Croatia: Traditional Wooden Dolls (Report 2013)

Produced for Jeem

In this 3 minutes report, we visit Hrvatscu, a town in Zagorvi, south from Zagreb. This small town is famous for its traditional wooden handicrafts. Woodcarving is one of the oldest rural crafts in the area and is still a source of survival for some of the town’s residents. The carvers use maple, willow, and lime to carve beautiful figures and dolls. The women of the town then paint these artifacts with the bright colours of the Croatian countryside.
