

On the 9th of July 2011, the world celebrated the secession of South Sudan after years of destructive and ferocious civil war that tore through Sudan. This one-hour documentary brings to light the reasons for this secession, looks at what lies ahead, and how the country will move forward. While the news tends to focus on momentary events and provide analysis, this documentary was aimed at providing a picture of daily life in South Sudan. The voting rate on the recession reached 90%; we met with the people to discuss the challenges they face and their beliefs on peace, building a new country, settling issues with the “North” and the possibility of yet another war.
