In this one-hour documentary, we chose the uprisings of Tunisia and Egypt to provide concrete examples and shed light on the importance of the Internet as a means of expression for an often-silenced Arab youth. The evolution of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter strengthened connections between people around the globe, it also allowed the world to open up. As a result, Arab youth grew more daring and conscious of their rights and their inspaniduality. These “users” were able to bring some of the changes happening in the virtual world to the physical world. For these youth, digital media became a powerful tool to raise their voices and call for democracy and change. Our heroes and storytellers are the bloggers and digital activists who shared their experiences with us.
